During New York Fashion Week, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler revealed their Spring 2025 collection along with a new collaboration with Sorel. The highly anticipated collection is now available for purchase. McCollough and Hernandez put their unique urban twist on Sorel’s signature winter snow boots, giving them a more stylish and downtown look.

The Spring 2025 collection showcased a focus on craftsmanship, color, and prints, featuring cobalt blue trench coats, minimalist knitwear, and asymmetrical skirts with striped patterns inspired by American artist Barnett Newman. The new Sorel × Proenza Schouler boots were styled with these pieces, offering sartorial inspiration for city slickers in the upcoming season.

The collaboration introduced two boot styles: the Caribou mule, with a low-cut silhouette, and a classic Chelsea boot. Both designs include Sorel’s waterproof vulcanized rubber shell and Aero-Trac sole for traction during winter. The color palette of the boots reflects the designers’ love for New York City, with options of high-contrast yellow and black or minimalist white and black.

This collaboration is the latest in Proenza Schouler’s partnerships with popular footwear brands like Vans and Birkenstock. McCollough and Hernandez explained that they chose the Sorel boots to add weight and contrast to the feminine pieces in their Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The boots are priced between $350 and $400 and can be purchased at Nordstrom, Shopbop, Sorel, Proenza Schouler, and select retailers.

Julie Tong, the Senior Commerce Content Lead at Harper’s BAZAAR, emphasized the significance of this collaboration. She highlighted the blend of the two brands’ aesthetics in the boots, combining Proenza’s brand codes with Sorel’s heritage structures. Tong also noted that while most of the runway collection won’t be available until 2025, the Sorel × Proenza Schouler boots are ready for purchase now.

If you’re looking to step up your winter footwear game with a pair of stylish and functional boots, the Sorel × Proenza Schouler collaboration offers the perfect opportunity. With their urban edge and practical design, these boots are sure to be a hit this season. Grab yours before they sell out!
