Have you ever thought about what the future of travel could be like? Harper Collective, founded by Jaden Smith and Sebastian Manes, has teamed up with the German fashion brand MCM to address plastic waste while promoting fashionable and sustainable travel.

The latest collaboration from Harper Collective features a range of hard-shell rolling travel cases made from an innovative material that consists of 70% recycled ocean plastic, including fishing nets and post-consumer plastic. The collection includes three different suitcase styles: “Cabin,” “Cabin Expandable,” and a large check-in case. Each piece features MCM’s iconic cognac Visetos, lightweight aluminum handles, and signature recycled quilted nylon interior.

To ensure authenticity and traceability, each item includes a blockchain-linked NFC chip provided by Temera, an Italian IoT solutions company. This technology allows customers to verify the origin and authenticity of their luggage. The idea for this collaboration was born after Harper Collective’s successful launch at Selfridges last summer, which inspired MCM to create a stylish and sustainable luggage set that was unveiled at Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2024.

MCM’s Chairperson, Sung-Joo Kim, expressed the brand’s commitment to sustainability, stating, “As a leading luxury fashion house, it is our responsibility to contribute to a better planet and society.” The collection is being promoted through a CGI campaign created by Jaden Smith and features artwork by the Japanese graffiti artist Inagaki, drawing inspiration from the 2024 MCM campaign “From Munich to Mars.”

The eco-friendly capsule collection is now available on the MCM website, the Harper Collective website, and at the MCM shop in Selfridges London. In addition to this exciting collaboration, you can also discover how to elevate your airport fashion game with P.E Nation.

In an effort to promote sustainable and fashionable travel, Harper Collective and MCM have joined forces to create a collection of luggage made from recycled ocean plastic. This innovative collaboration not only provides stylish travel solutions but also contributes to the global fight against plastic waste. With a focus on sustainability and authenticity, this eco-conscious capsule collection is a step towards a more responsible and fashionable future of travel.
