Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela have finally unveiled their highly anticipated X-ALP collaboration, which was first teased in early 2024. The collaboration takes on the popular sneaker hybrid trend with the introduction of the XT-4 mule, a reinterpretation of the classic hiking shoe infused with MM6’s unique design aesthetic.

The XT-4 mule is presented in two striking colorways described as “radical” and “neat” by the brand. These color schemes, named “Vanilla Ice/Black/Almond Milk” and “Black/Black/Black,” focus on the shoe’s aerodynamic shape while toning down the technical elements typically found in hiking footwear. The design emphasizes graphic silhouettes in pure monochrome black and signature whites and creams, accented with black details to create a sharp and sartorial look.

Both colorways feature the MM6 numeric signature logo on the tongue, adding a touch of branding to the minimalist design. The shoe made its debut in Margiela’s 2024 Resort lookbook, showcasing a blend of beige, teal, brown, blue, and yellow hues. Teasers of the collaboration were also spotted on the Instagram account Hiking Patrol in 2023, with the black colorway making a resurgence on Salomonology’s social media in early 2024.

The XT-4 mule will be available for purchase on the Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela websites starting June 6. In the meantime, fans can preview the new colorways and appreciate the fusion of Salomon’s mountaineering heritage with MM6’s contemporary design sensibilities.
