Daniel Roseberry, the artistic director of Schiaparelli, recently unveiled a new haute couture collection in Paris that pays homage to the house’s founder, Elsa Schiaparelli. Drawing inspiration from Schiaparelli’s ability to reinvent herself, Roseberry focused on a feathered ensemble worn by her in the 1940s as a tribute to ballerina Anna Pavlova.

The collection, titled “Phoenix Rising,” features looks that mimic the plumage of a bird, symbolizing rebirth and transformation. Roseberry incorporated elements of midcentury style, such as ’40s shoulders and ’50s gowns, along with references to archival pieces from 1938. Vintage shoes inspired headpieces and necklines of gowns, adding a modern twist to the classic era.

Schiaparelli’s history of Surrealist touches was evident in the collection, with gowns embellished with dinosaur-like spikes and sheer crinoline veils covering the faces of models. The show attracted attention from front-row regulars like Doja Cat and Kylie Jenner, who both donned standout looks that are sure to make waves in the fashion world.

With Roseberry’s unique vision and the house’s legacy of innovation, the Schiaparelli Couture Fall/Winter 2024 collection showcases a blend of tradition and avant-garde creativity. The phoenix theme resonates throughout the designs, symbolizing the eternal cycle of reinvention and the enduring allure of haute couture.
