Janelle Monáe sure knows how to throw a party! The singer, who always nails the Met Gala themes, decided to host an afterparty at the PUBLIC Hotel this year. The event was named the “Phenomenal Affair” and it was one for the books.
The party was filled with all sorts of celebrities and fashionistas who had just come from the Met Gala. Everyone was dressed to the nines, with Janelle Monáe herself making a bold statement by arriving without a shirt. Not really sure why this matters, but she looked absolutely stunning in a sailor-inspired outfit, complete with high-waisted shorts and anchor-themed pasties covering her, um, assets.
As guests made their way into the PUBLIC Hotel, they were greeted by a red-carpet tunnel that led them downstairs to the nightclub. Inside, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as people danced to some classic club bangers from the 90s and early 2000s. The disco balls reflected a rainbow of colors, adding to the lively vibe of the party.
Celebrities like Questlove, Bebe Rexha, Chance the Rapper, Padma Lakshmi, and Coco Rocha were all in attendance, dressed to impress in their tailored suits and glamorous outfits. The Champagne was flowing, with Perrier-Jouët being the drink of choice for the night. And in honor of the hosts, special cocktails like the Doce Mezcal “Lipstick Lover” and the “Alligator Bite” made with Código Blanco Tequila were served.
The party continued well into the early hours of the morning, with some guests moving upstairs to The Roof lounge for a more exclusive gathering. Across the city, other star-studded events were taking place, hosted by a variety of celebrities.
