Celine Dion, the iconic singer, recently graced New York City with a rare public appearance at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall for the premiere of the Amazon Prime documentary film, “I Am: Celine Dion.” The film delves into her remarkable career and chronicles her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological condition causing muscle spasms.
Director Irene Taylor welcomed a crowd filled with devoted fans and notable figures like Kelly Clarkson, Gayle King, Derek Blasberg, Lena Hall, Candace Bushnell, and Laverne Cox. Dion, greeted with a standing ovation, expressed her gratitude to the adoring fans, saying, “I missed this!”
In the documentary, Dion compares herself to an apple tree with branches starting to fall, leading to challenges in her singing. Despite this, she acknowledges her loyal fan base, stating, “There’s still as many people in line.” A touching moment occurred when her son, René-Charles Angélil, handed her tissues during her emotional speech.
The film delves into Dion’s family dynamics, her love for fashion—especially shoes, and her professional successes. Set to release on Amazon Prime on June 25th, this documentary promises to be both heart-wrenching and inspiring.
