flight-attendants-monthly-beauty-budget-how-much-do-they-really-spend

She’s flying high in the sky — and paying a hefty price to do it in style. Meet Hannah, a flight attendant with over seven years of experience, who believes that looking fabulous at 35,000 feet isn’t just a job requirement, but the whole dang job itself.

Not quite sure why this is important, but she spends nearly $500 a month to keep her face flawless. “Getting ready for my shift is honestly the best part of my day,” she confessed to Fashion Journal during a recent chat.

According to Hannah, beauty is an essential part of the gig. “When I first started training, they spent a whole day on grooming: makeup, hair, fragrance. And after that, you basically just copy what other ladies are doing,” she revealed.

Tackling hair and makeup mid-flight turbulence? Apparently, that’s totally normal. “If you’re working a long shift, it’s okay to touch up your hair and makeup as needed,” Hannah explained.

After landing, the beauty routine doesn’t stop. Even on her days off, she’s still dedicated to maintaining her appearance.

While it may seem glamorous in the air with red lipstick and high heels, the reality behind the scenes is less luxury and more jet lag, coffee, and stress.

“Visiting my hairdresser is something I genuinely look forward to. I usually get my hair colored and blow-dried every eight to 10 weeks,” she shared.

In addition to regular facials, eyebrow shaping, monthly pedicures, and bi-weekly nail appointments, Hannah shells out $450 each month on beauty treatments. And no, she doesn’t get reimbursed for any of it. “We don’t receive extra compensation for the time and money we invest in looking presentable,” she mentioned.

Ultimately, Hannah spends this money to feel like herself, not out of vanity. “If I hadn’t ended up as a flight attendant, I would’ve pursued a career as a makeup artist. I enjoy looking glamorous and rocking a shiny lip gloss,” she concluded.
