Onitsuka Tiger is marking its 75th anniversary with a bang in both Paris and Tokyo. The sportswear brand, originally part of Asics, is making a splash with a pop-up at 25 Champs-Elysées in Paris until August 17 and a flagship store opening in Tokyo’s Shibuya district from August 9 to 25. The Paris pop-up is housed in a historic mansion and will later become the brand’s flagship store in 2025.

The celebrations kicked off earlier this year with a collaboration featuring Astro Boy, resulting in a special collection of apparel and footwear. In February, a runway show at Milan Fashion Week highlighted the brand’s iconic yellow color, famously worn by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill.

In Paris, the brand is offering a unique experience at the “Hotel Onitsuka Tiger,” featuring artist residencies, a Yellow Tiger Café curated by a Japanese chef, and exhibitions showcasing the brand’s evolution over the years. The venue will also pay homage to founder Kihachiro Onitsuka’s legacy with installations inspired by his vision.

In Tokyo, the celebrations will include a photographic exhibition of 75 pairs of archive Onitsuka Tiger shoes, along with new collection pieces created for the anniversary. The brand’s rich history and evolution will be on full display, highlighting its transformation from a small cobbler’s shop in Kobe to a global leader in sports footwear.

Overall, Onitsuka Tiger’s anniversary celebrations are a testament to its enduring legacy and commitment to innovation in the world of sports fashion. With events in Paris and Tokyo, the brand is honoring its roots while looking towards the future with excitement and creativity.
